This project started as an environment exam for my 4th semester - we had to design some sort of workshop. Since I'd always wanted to try sculpting a robot, I jumped at the chance to learn hard surface sculpting. Though it still looks pretty organic since I'm a huge Neon Genesis Evangelion fan from way back.
This piece taught me tons about UV layout and sculpting, plus it gave me valuable insights into trimsheets and modular kits. I even went out and gathered real ivy leaves from my local forest to use as haircards for the vines on the old factory grounds- turned into a fun way to explore both vegetation cards and nature walks.
The robot's name comes from a giant Bird in Jewish mythology. As a child I was super curious about legends from all around the world, so I guess that passion definitely influenced some of the design here
